BIO

I am a doctoral student (PhD expected 2014) in Organization Studies at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada. My research interests focus on a number of themes (institutional and organizational pluralism; organizational change; the cultural basis of individual and organizational actions; and institutional theory) all of which I approaches from a perspective of social justice and responsibility. My Master's research involved studying how faculty within business schools struggled against institutional pressures to include social justice in their teaching and research. Some of my current research involves: studying how non-profit and for-profit institutional logics can be integrated in organizational forms rather than be dominated by one cultural mode of practice; and how marginalized actors can engage in resistance against the organizations and institutions within which they are embedded. My dissertation project aims to study the resilience of identity under oppressive institutional logics and reveal the resources, tools, and social context that can enable marginalized actors to protect their human rights and dignity.
